Print Production - Book Binding
This project took place during my time at SCAD. The purpose of this project was to choose any topic and create a paper promotional book that sponsors the paper company Mohawk. The challenges of the assignment included adding die-cuts as well as binding the book together. This assignment allowed me to not only learn more about the beauty of Monarchs, but also the beauty of book-binding. A special thanks to Peter Wong for his wise critiques.
The Monarch
The Monarch butterfly is one of the most recognizable and well studied butterflies on the planet. The origin of the Monarch butterfly, also known as Danaus plexippus, is in the American tropics, almost two million years ago. The monarch butterfly has been classified and reclassified several times as a result of new data coming to light. As with most species, theories of its evolution are based on its systematic similarities to other closely related species, as well as genetic similarities to those species.
